It’s been a while since I’ve provided an update from the shop. The new shop is finished and I plan to unveil it the weekend of October 24 & 25. If your in the area please stop by and check out some of the pieces I’ve completed in the past…
Finally finished up the lamps I’ve been working on! Glad they are done! This one is african mahogany with a tung oil finish. This one is quarter sawn white oak that I fumed with ammonia for two days to get the color then topped with tung oil.
Finally getting around to putting the finish on these craftsman style lamps that have been kicking around the shop the past 6 months! This one is from african mahogany.
Completed the install yesterday on the shelves. The clients loved them and were very happy with them! That makes me very happy! Today is the start of the sculpture base!
Those are three live edge mesquite shelves ready for delivery and install in the morning! More pics of them after that. The walnut blank is the next in line. It’s slated to become a sculpture base. I really new to find the time to get those lamps finished as well!
Finally got the double bench completed and delivered today! It’s always nice to see how much the clients appreciate my work! On to the next one!
I’m finally getting around to putting the finish on the double bench! The first of four coats of polymerized tung oil really makes the mesquite come alive!
I’m slowly making some progress on the double bench. Today I got the steel legs bent and everything is all fit up.
In my last post I was flattening these slabs with my router. Since then I’ve filled the cracks and voids with epoxy and rough sanded them. Today I cut and folded one of the slabs to form one of the legs. The second leg will be shaped from flat steel….
The client wants two mesquite benches that can be pushed together to form one long bench. Today I begin surfacing the slabs with my router sled and rails
